THE BEHIND THE SCENES STORY

While the film earned high praise across the U.S. in festivals and premieres,
it's public release was repeatedly stopped by intense political pressures.
After many years and countless failed attempts, it was put away in the vault.
Today, the latest effort is on it's way and independent platform is being built to
release it (2023). The full story behind the scenes will be shared there.
Wish us luck and sign-up for the announcement.

Set against the musical backdrop of the historic Peace Without Borders concert in Havana, the 13 Million Voices traces the personal ten-year (2004-2014) journey of its protagonists to tell the stories of Cuba’s forgotten youth. As the path of the biggest international names in Latin music, youth protagonists, and the 1.3 million in attendance intersect, a concert is transformed into the voice of a generation.

“Covering a span of ten years, the film looks at the buildup to and aftermath of the 2009 Peace Without Borders concert in Havana that assembled some of the biggest names in Latin American music. We witness the forces of culture and politics in changing hearts and minds.” - DOC NYC

“[The] film captures the essence of the struggle between modern day Cuba and the outside world. Her film presents the viewer with a unique glimpse of the way the system in Cuba works and how it clashes with anything foreign to their own agenda. The concert features performances by Juanes, Miguel Bosé, Orishas, Olga Tañón, Carlos Varela, X Alfonso, and many others.” - Miami International Film Festival
